MADRID - Slovenian cycling star Primož Roglič gained six seconds on the leading Australian Ben O'Connor thanks to time bonuses in the seventh stage of the Vuelta a España. The 180.2 km route from Archidona to Cordoba was won by Belgian Wout Van Aert, who out-sprinted Czech Mathias Vacek and Spaniard Pau Delgado from a small group. Roglič finished the stage in 18th place. O'Connor remains in the overall lead, 4 minutes and 45 seconds ahead of Roglič.
LIMA - Slovenia's top table tennis player Darko Jorgić successfully started the WTT Contender tournament in Lima, which has a prize pool of $80,000. In the first round, the second-seeded Slovenian won a hard-fought match 3-2 against Japan's Ryoichi Yoshiyama, the 112th player in the world rankings.
ULAN BATOR - Slovenian endurance rally racer Toni Mulec is the winner of the seven-day international rally across Mongolia. Mulec won the motorcycle category, completing the over 3,000 km race across the Mongolian plains in 28 hours and 19 minutes.
REKA - The UEFA Conference League qualifying match between Rijeka and Ljubljana’s Olimpija, which ended in a 1-1 draw, was attended by 6,480 spectators at the Rujevica Stadium in Rijeka. Croatian police reported that 18 people were detained, mostly for attempting to enter the stadium with pyrotechnics, drugs, or disguises.
LJUBLJANA - The football team Gorica temporarily climbed to the top of the 2nd Slovenian League standings after defeating Bistrica 3-1 at home in the third round. Previously unbeaten Beltinci dropped to second place after losing 3-1 at home to Triglav. Sežana moved up to fourth place with a 2-1 victory in Kidričevo.
LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Handball Federation announced that the men's Super Cup match will not be played this year at the request of the clubs due to the packed schedule of other competitions. In the women's league, there will be only seven teams this season, as the Celje club Z'dežele has withdrawn from the league.
SAMARKAND - Two Slovenian boats qualified for the finals at the World Canoe Sprint Championships in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Mia Medved and Anja Osterman impressed in the women's 200-meter kayak heats, finishing second and securing a spot in Sunday's final. Rok Šmit and Mia Medved also advanced to the final of the mixed 500-meter kayak event after finishing second in their heat.
OLOMOUC - The only Slovenian representative at the WTT Feeder table tennis tournament in Olomouc, with a prize pool of €36,000, Ana Tofant, lost in the second round. She was defeated 3-0 by Japan's Hitomi Sato.
LJUBLJANA - A day before his farewell match, the captain of Slovenia's golden basketball team, Goran Dragić, hosted a charity gala dinner at Stožice Arena in Ljubljana, raising funds for young athletes in need of support on their path to success. A total of €94,000 was raised at the charity auction for the official event jersey signed by all participants, a ball autographed by Gogi's basketball guests, and Goran's first basketball jersey from Koseze Primary School.
