MARIBOR - The footballers of Maribor and Bravo drew 1:1 (1:0) in the 3rd round of the Prva Liga Telemach. In the 4th round, Maribor will host Mura on Sunday, while Bravo will host Koper next Monday.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian women's volleyball team played two preparatory matches against Hungary in Ljubljana as part of their preparations for the European Championship 2026 qualifiers in August. The Slovenian volleyball players won both matches 3:0 in sets, according to the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia.

TAMPERE - The Slovenian U18 basketball team won the bronze medal at the European Championship in Finland. In the third-place match, they defeated Israel 84:70. This is the second medal for Slovenia's youth basketball teams at European Championships this summer - the U20 team won silver in Poland, and overall it is the thirteenth medal at European Championships for younger age categories since 1991.

SILVERSTONE - Italian Enea Bastianini on a Ducati won the race of the MotoGP World Championship in Silverstone, UK. In the elite MotoGP class, he defeated the new season leader, Spaniard Jorge Martin from the Pramac Ducati team, with defending champion Italian Francesco Bagnaia on a Ducati in third. The race results reshuffled the standings at the top of the championship, with the title contenders neck and neck. Martin now has 241 points, while Bagnaia, who crashed on Saturday, is second with 238. The next race will be in Spielberg, Austria, on August 18.

JYVASKYLA - Frenchman Sebastien Ogier in a Toyota won the World Rally Championship race in Finland. Ogier took advantage of a mistake by home favorite and reigning world champion Kalle Rovanperä. Ogier's teammate had led for most of the race but crashed on the penultimate stage. Ogier triumphed ahead of Belgian Thierry Neuville in a Hyundai, who extended his overall lead in the championship standings. He now has 168 points, with Ogier second on 141. Frenchman Adrien Fourmaux in a Ford finished third. The next WRC event is the Acropolis Rally in Greece from September 5 to 8.

MANAMA - Young French cyclist Lenny Martinez has left the Groupama-FDJ team to join Bahrain Victorious. According to his new team, the 21-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the team, which also includes Slovenian star Matej Mohorič.
