LJUBLJANA - Slovenian boxer Ema Kozin was supposed to defend her super welterweight world champion titles under the WBC and WBO versions in Las Vegas on Saturday. However, the fight was canceled because the Slovenian boxer did not obtain a work visa for the USA in time, her trainer and manager Rudolf Pavlin announced on Facebook. It is not yet clear when and where the Slovenian boxer will be able to return to the ring. The 25-year-old Ema Kozin had an arranged fight with the experienced 42-year-old Colombian-born Norwegian Cecilia Braekhus, the leading boxer in the world rankings in this category.
PARIS - The public agency Spirit Slovenia organized a second business forum at the Slovenian House in Paris during the Olympic Games, focusing on specific business opportunities and possibilities for cooperation and connections between companies from both countries. At the event, representatives of several Slovenian companies were introduced to business opportunities available in France and how to enter the local market. Bernard Quinet, a representative of the Paris Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce, was the most comprehensive, highlighting that his chamber covers an area that generates 30 percent of France's gross domestic product and includes 900,000 business partners.
OSLO - Norwegian cross-country skier Therese Johaug, who won three gold medals at the 2022 Beijing Olympics and already has one from the 2010 Vancouver Games, announced her return today. The 14-time world champion, who retired after the end of the 2022 season, plans to compete at the 2025 World Championships in Trondheim. Johaug highlighted the Olympic title in the 50-kilometer race as her main goal for the home championship. "I dream of gold," emphasized the 36-year-old Johaug, who retired from the sport in 2022 but confirmed today that she will return to competitive waters in the 2024/25 season.
NEW YORK - Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal will not compete in the US Open in New York, the last Grand Slam tournament of the year, he announced on social media today. "I have decided not to participate in the US Open. I have great memories of this tournament. I will miss those special night matches, but unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to give my best this time.
