LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Olympic team has returned home from Paris. The Olympic Committee of Slovenia organized a reception for the Slovenian Olympians at Congress Square in Ljubljana. There, the members of the Slovenian team who won three medals in Paris were introduced to sports fans. Among them were all three medalists: gold medalists Andreja Leški and Janja Garnbret, and silver medalist Toni Vodišek. Before that, the athletes were also received by the President of the Republic, Nataša Pirc Musar.

LJUBLJANA - In the 4th round of the Telemach First League, Bravo defeated Koper 1-0 (0-0).

MADRID - Slovenian cyclist Primož Roglič will compete in the Vuelta a España, his team Red Bull BORA Hansgrohe announced today. Roglič has not raced since his crash at the Tour de France, but according to the team, he has recovered and is ready for the Vuelta.

WARSAW - Belgian Thibau Nys (Lidl-Trek) won the first stage of the Tour of Poland. In the race from Wrocław to Karpacz, he beat Dutchman Wilco Kelderman (Visma-Lease a Bike) by three seconds, while British rider Lukas Nerurkar (EF Education-EasyPost) finished third with the same time gap. One Slovenian cyclist, Matej Mohorič, is participating in the Tour of Poland, defending last year's victory. Today, Bahrain Victorious rider Mohorič finished fifth, six seconds behind.

THE HAGUE - The women's version of the Tour de France started today with the first stage in the Netherlands. The cyclists rode 123 kilometers from Rotterdam to The Hague, with Dutch rider Charlotte Kool (DSM PostNL) taking the win. The only Slovenian cyclist in the Tour, Špela Kern (Cofidis), finished 71st.

LJUBLJANA - Slovenian national basketball team coach Aleksander Sekulić is leaving Russia after two years of leading Lokomotiv Kuban. The club thanked Sekulić for his work on its website and announced that the team will now be led by the club's president, Andrej Vediščev.

PARIS - Following the conclusion of the Olympic Games in Paris, U.S. Olympic authorities announced they would appeal the decision of the International Olympic Committee, which, following international arbitration, stripped gymnast Jordan Chiles of her bronze medal on the floor exercise. The medal was awarded to Romanian Ana Barbosa. The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee has announced an appeal against the CAS decision, which revoked Chiles' bronze medal.

MADRID - Atletico Madrid has made the second most expensive signing in the club's history. Jan Oblak's new teammate is Argentine forward Julian Alvarez, who joined from Manchester City for €75 million. The 24-year-old striker, who is the centerpiece of Atletico Madrid's new project, having signed a contract until 2030, became the second most expensive player in the club's history and Manchester City's most profitable sale ever. Atletico Madrid only paid more for Joao Felix in 2019 - €127 million.
